Central Precinct wins Timber Award
13/Nov/2006
Again the Central Precinct project has been recognised with a national award.
The Australian Timber Design Awards were announced last week with the Central Precinct announced as the winner of the "Public and Commercial Buildings" section.
The project was also shortlisted for the prime award of "Best National Building".
The use of raw timber cladding which is left to fade and grey with time was a bold suggestion from the architects which responded well to our briefing requirement to "soften" the impact along the Gardiners Creek edge.
The result is a building that will age gracefully - and with little ongoing maintenance.
Congratulations to all involved.
